To ask the Minister for the Arts if he will list in theOfficial Report the total grants made under the business sponsorship incentive scheme in each financial year since its inception and the total related business sponsorship for the same years.

[holding answer 25 February 1988]: Grants paid and related sponsorship in each year, inclusive of administration costs, amounted to:

To ask the Minister for the Arts if he will provide a breakdown of the total grant made under the business sponsorship incentive scheme for the most recent complete financial year in the following categories(a) drama, (b) opera, (c) dance, (d) music, (e) visual arts, (f) film and (g) museums and galleries.

[holding answer 25 February 1988]: The grant paid in 1986–87 amounted to £1.75 million. It was distributed among a wide range of art forms as follows:

To ask the Minister for the Arts what are the latest estimates of total business sponsorship of the Arts in the years 1985–86, 1986–87 and 1987–88; and if he will give a detailed breakdown of how these estimates were made.

[holding answer 25 February 1988]: The latest estimates of arts sponsorship are as follows:

1986–87 25

A figure for 1987–88 is not yet available but current indications are that it will be in the region of £30 million. The estimates are based on membership surveys carried out by the Association for Business Sponsorship of the Arts and statistics from the business sponsorship incentive scheme.
