§ Miss LestorTo ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what information he has on the specific ways in which the United States of America will comply with the Toronto resolution on debt.
§ Mr. Lilley[holding answer 29 June 1988]: Major industrial countries agreed in Toronto on rescheduling the poorest countries' official debt within a framework of comparability. Creditors will be able to choose between concessional interest rates, longer repayment periods, partial write-offs or a combination of these options. The United States has said that it will consider a broader range of maturities.
