§ Mr. David PorterTo ask the Secretary of State for Education and Science what further representations he has had on the expanded roles of school governors; what assessment he has made of the extent to which suitable people are likely to come forward as governors; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. DunnA number of letters received by my right hon. Friend have commented upon school governors' new roles and responsibilities. The Government believe that many people will be attracted by this expanded role; and, in order to ensure that potential governors are aware of the new opportunities, we are giving greater publicity to the functions of school governors and the means of becoming a governor.
