HC Deb 23 June 1988 vol 135 cc660-1W
Ms. Short

To ask the Secretary of State for Employment for each employment service region, how many claimants have been referred to the unemployment benefit service due to availability doubts during May 1988.

Mr. Cope

This information is not available in the form requested. Questions concerning a person's availability for work may arise following any interview with an employment service official and records of all such instances are not kept.

However, the table gives figures by employment service region for the number of cases which were referred in May to the independent adjudicating authorities from unemployment benefit offices for a decision on a claimant's availability.
