HC Deb 23 June 1988 vol 135 c630W
Mr. Cryer

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what consultations he has held with any of the officers of the preserved standard gauge steam railways in the United Kingdom during 1986, 1987 and 1988; and if he will list the occasions and the subjects discussed.

Mr. David Mitchell

I attended the annual conference of the Association of Railway Preservation Societies and attended functions on various preserved railways by invitation. Officials of the Department of Transport have had various consultations with officers of preserved steam railways mainly about safety. A list could be prepared only at disproportionate cost.
