HC Deb 23 June 1988 vol 135 c656W
Mr. Dunnachie

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what representations he has received seeking an amendment to the School Boards (Scotland) Bill to ensure that school facilities continue to be available for hire by youth organisations after responsibility for school letting has passed to boards of governors; what response he has made; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Michael Forsyth

I have received representations from the Scottish standing conference of youth organisations, and have explained to the conference that clause 14 of the Bill gives control of out-of-hours use of their schools to boards, subject to any direction given to them by their education authority.
