§ Mr. SimsTo ask the Secretary of State for Social Services what representations have been received by his Department in respect of the proposed safety regulation under the Consumer Protection Act 1987 to ban oral tobacco products; what proportion of these were in support of and against the proposals; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mrs. Currie[pursuant to her reply 8 June 1988, c. 592]: The Department has now uncovered further representations which were overlooked due to a backlog in mail. The correct total for separate representations received by 26 May is 328. Of these, 300 were in support of the Government's proposal and 28 were against.
