HC Deb 23 June 1988 vol 135 c627W
Mr. Redmond

To ask the Attorney-General how many defendants in motoring cases have been acquitted during the last year due to legal technicalities; and if he will make a statement.

The Attorney-General

The great majority of motoring cases are disposed of in the magistrates courts. As a general rule, magistrates are not required to give their reasons for acquitting defendants, and do not do so. The information that the hon. Member requires is therefore not available.
