§ Mr. Douglas HoggOn 16 June 1988, there were 252 confirmed and 11 provisional category A inmates in penal establishments serving sentences of life imprisonment. In addition there were 14 confirmed and two provisional category A inmates serving sentences of youth custody for life or detained during Her Majesty's pleasure.
