§ 18. Mr. HindTo ask the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will make a statement on the progress of the Commission for New Towns in disposing of the former assets of the new town development corporations.
§ Mr. RidleyThe Commission for the New Towns is conducting an extremely successful programme of asset sales which in 1987–88 yielded receipts in excess of £200 million. I expect asset sales in the current financial year to be higher than this. The success of the asset sales programme is a clear indication of the confidence which private investors have in the future of the new towns.
