§ Lord James Douglas-HamiltonA range of security measures is used aimed at stopping drugs being smuggled into prisons. For dealing with drug abuse in prisons, medical examination on reception should identify drug abusers. They are counselled and educated as to the dangers of abuse, and physical or mental symptoms of withdrawal are treated as necessary.
