HC Deb 21 June 1988 vol 135 c486W
Mr. Cran

To ask the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster, pursuant to his answer of 8 June,Official Report, column 588, what powers are available to his Department to monitor the use of radio surveillance equipment; what use has been made of these powers over the last five years; and what plans he has to strengthen those powers.

Mr. Butcher

There are no specific powers, but during and before the last five years the parts of the radio spectrum allocated for civil use have been regularly subject to monitoring exercises to establish patterns of use, to trace radio interference and to assist in the general management of radio services. I have no plans to take any specific powers.
