HC Deb 21 June 1988 vol 135 c489W
Mr. Wilson

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what information has been provided by his Department to the Australian Senate Standing Committee on Defence, Foreign Affairs and Trade's inquiry into safety procedures and contingency planning for accidents involving nuclear-powered vessels in harbour.

Mr. Ian Stewart

General information about the Royal Navy's nuclear submarine safety procedures and reactor accident contingency planning was passed to the Australian Department of Defence last year. I understand that the Department has drawn on this as appropriate in responding to the Standing Committee's current inquiry on safety procedures relating to nuclear-powered vessels in Australian waters.
