To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what are the compensation arrangements in the event of civilian death, injury and property damage resulting from (a) a military nuclear reactor accident and (b) a nuclear weapon accident.

Mr. Ian Stewart

In the unlikely event of a military nuclear accident in the United Kingdom, the Ministry of Defence would offer compensation under the same arrangements which exist for dealing with any other claims for personal injury, loss or damage.
