To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will list the estimated numbers of tenants of(a) local authorities, (b) the Scottish Special Housing Association, (c) new town development corporations, (d) housing associations and (e) other private sector landlords who are in receipt of rent rebates or rent allowances for (i) certificated cases and (ii) standard cases.

Housing benefit for tenants of housing associations (other than the Scottish Special Housing Association) and other private sector landlords is administered by local authorities and information is not separately recorded. The numbers of recipients in these two groups are therefore included in the rent allowance figures for the appropriate local authorities. I apologise to the hon. Member for the delay in providing this information.
