§ Mr. GummerThe Government are currently looking at a mumber of options for further action to reduce nitrate pollution—including those identified in the Hatton study. A publicity campaign was launched earlier this year with the support of interested organisations aimed at encouraging farmers to adopt practices which minimise the risk of nitrate loss. The agricultural development and advisory service also takes every opportunity to put the message across in the course of its regular contact with the farming community.
