To ask the Secretary of State for Transport how many injuries there have been from road accidents involving motor cycles; and at what cost of treatment, over the most recent period for which figures are available.

The estimated medical and ambulance costs of all accidents involving motor cycles were £42 million, out of a total of £150 million for road accident casualties, at 1986 prices; 406 of the pedestrian casualties were incurred al. zebra crossings.
