To ask the Secretary of State for Transport whether his staff have had any discussions with London Regional Transport concerning its report on actions taken to improve safety since the King's Cross fire.

Mr. David Mitchell

Actions to improve safety on the Underground as a result of the King's Cross fire are matters for the board of LRT which is statutorily responsible for safety; they keep my officials fully informed.

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what recommendations his Department has made to London Underground concerning safety improvements, following the King's Cross fire.

The safe operation of London Underground is the responsibility of London Regional Transport. However LRT has explained to my Department its plans for improving safety following the King's Cross fire.
