§ Mr. McCrindleTo ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he is satisfied with the progress being made against computer crime; what steps are being taken to combat it; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. Douglas HoggWe are concerned about computer crime, but it is a complicated matter and my right hon. Friend is awaiting a report from the Law Commission about it before deciding what, if any, action needs to be taken by Government to deal with it. In the meantime, the subject is receiving close attention from the police. I know, for example, that the Metropolitan police give lectures and talks to companies and have contributed to conferences on the dangers, and security aspects, of computer crime.
§ Mr. McCrindleTo ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what steps he proposes to take to ensure that companies who are the victims of computer crime are co-operating fully with the police; and if he will make a statement.

§ Mr. Douglas HoggAll citizens have a general duty to co-operate with the police in the investigation of offences. We have no information to suggest that companies which have become victims of computer crime are not co-operating fully with the police.
