§ Mr. SpellerTo ask the Secretary of State for Employment what comparable access to employment in the United Kingdom(a) citizens of Eire and (b) citizens of Commonwealth countries enjoy; and if such access enjoyed is reciprocal for United Kingdom citizens seeking employment in Eire.
§ Mr. LeeEuropean Community law provides for free reciprocal access to employment between the United Kingdom and Eire. Commonwealth citizens require a work permit or other permission to work in the United Kingdom, unless they have the right of abode or are settled in the United Kingdom.
