HC Deb 17 June 1988 vol 135 cc321-2W
Dr. Thomas

To ask the Secretary of State for Energy if the chief nuclear installations inspector is satisfied with the current reporting arrangements concerning the entering and leaving of the B205 reprocessing plant, in terms of the accountability of the whereabouts of workers at the plant.

Wales and Scotland. The figures are based on information provided by the companies themselves and include only those jobs associated with inward investment projects currently known to the IBB

Mr. Michael Spicer

This matter was raised during the Health and Safety Executive's safety audit of BNFL Sellafield in 1986. BNFL subsequently introduced improvements to the health physics control arrangements at the entrance to B205. The Nuclear Installations Inspectorate is considering, with BNFL, the need for further improvements and is awaiting the results of an experimental system in use on a new plant on the site.
