HC Deb 17 June 1988 vol 135 c355W
Mr. Hoyle

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what representations he has received on the import of American domestic waste to Warrington; how many lorries daily will be required to transport this waste from Liverpool to Warrington; what type of lorry will be used; what will be included in the domestic waste; whether any risk to human life will arise; if he will receive a delegation from Cheshire county council on this matter; and if he will ban the importation of this waste.

Mr. Moynihan

We have received a number of representations about these proposals which I understand to be the subject of negotiation between the interested parties. The matter is, in the first instance, for Cheshire county council to determine, as operator of the site concerned and as planning and waste disposal authority. I have agreed to meet members of the council to discuss the matter.
