§ Mr. Norman LamontA single man with no allowances or reliefs other than his personal allowance earning £100,000 a year in 1988–89 will pay 37.5 per cent. of his earnings in income tax and national insurance. A similar person earning £10,000 a year will pay 27.5 per cent.
