HC Deb 16 June 1988 vol 135 c199W
Mr. Cran

To ask the Attorney-General what representations he has received from the Association of District Councils regarding Sunday trading laws.

The Attorney-General

The Association of District Councils wrote to my predecessor about the enforcement of the Sunday trading provisions of the Shops Act 1950 in the course of 1986. He received no further representations from the association and I have received none. As I mentioned in a reply to my hon. Friend the Member for Orpington (Mr. Stanbrook) on 18 April last, at column297, I recently asked the association for information concerning the scale of the enforcement effort being made in pursuance of the responsibility placed upon local authorities by the Act.
