HC Deb 16 June 1988 vol 135 c220W
Mr. Cohen

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence if he will make a statement outlining his Department's plans for the use of Stainmore common by the Army.

Mr. Freeman

The Stainmore land is to be used by the Army for dry training by up to 150 men at any time, although training for up to 300 men may take place on a maximum of 22 days a year. Exceptionally, training up to battalion level may be conducted with the prior consent of the local planning authority. No live firing will take place in this area.
