Mr. Galbraith

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if his Department will be contributing to the Office of Fair Trading's inquiry into the competitive position of doctors; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Michael Forsyth

The Director General of Fair Trading has now referred the question of restrictions on doctors' advertising to the Monopolies and Mergers Commission. I understand that officials of the Scottish Home and Health Department will be invited to give evidence to the commission.
