HC Deb 16 June 1988 vol 135 c217W
Mr. Tony Banks

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, pursuant to his reply of 31 March, what advice is now being given to British visitors intending to travel to Panama and how many have contacted the United Kingdom embassy in Panama following that reply.

Mr. Eggar

Our current advice is that the situation in Panama is still unsettled and prospective visitors should travel only if on urgent business. They should bring international credit cards and sufficient cash in US dollars in small denominations to cover other expenses. They should contact the British embassy on arrival. Fewer than a dozen visitors have contacted the British embassy since 31 March.
