To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will make a statement on the current level of interest rates.

Bank base rates are 8½ per cent.

§ 94. Mr. Wilson
To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will make a statement on the recent reductions in United Kingdom interest rates.

§ Mr. Lilley
Bank base rates were reduced from 9 per cent. to 8½ per cent. on 18 March, from 8½ per cent. to 8 per cent. on 11 April, and from 8 per cent. to 7½ per cent. on 18 May. Bank base rates were increased to 8 per cent. on 3 June and to 8½ per cent. on 7 June.
