§ Mr. Ieuan Wyn JonesTo ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs when, and by what means, Her Majesty's Government intend to implement part I, articles 1 (1) and (3), of the international covenant on economic, social and cultural rights, to which the United Kingdom is a signatory.
§ Mr. EggarWe fully uphold our obligations under article 1 of the international covenant on economic, social and cultural rights. The measures taken in respect of our obligations under this covenant and under the international covenant on civil and political rights, which contains an identical article 1, are explained in the reports we have presented to the United Nations economic and social council and to the human rights committee respectively.
