HC Deb 16 June 1988 vol 135 cc199-200W
Mr. Tony Banks

To ask the Attorney-General what action the Director of Public Prosecutions proposes to take following the completion of an investigation by the City of London police into contacts between the two principal Crown witnesses at the appeal hearing of the men convicted of the Birmingham pub bombings; and if he will make a statement.

The Attorney-General

The investigation by the City of London police into contacts between Dr. Skuse and Mr. Reade, who were both Crown witnesses at the appeal hearing of six men convicted of the Birmingham pub bombings, has been completed.

The investigation did not reveal any evidence of criminal conduct by any person and the Director of Public Prosecutions has therefore decided to take no further action in the matter.
