HL Deb 15 June 1988 vol 498 c366WA
Lord Mason of Barnsley

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will consider transferring the fishery rates which at present go to local authorities to the projected National Rivers Authority so as to help maintain and conserve the river and still water fisheries.

The Minister of State, Department of the Environment (The Earl of Caithness)

The Government accept that proposal, as I told the House during the Committee stage of the Local Government Finance Bill last week.
