(2) when consideration of the draft rules relating to the Children and Young Persons (Amendment) Act will be concluded;
(3) what representations he has received seeking early implementation of the provisions of the Children and Young Persons (Amendment) Act; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. NewtonMy hon. Friend has himself made representations seeking early implementation of the Children and Young Persons (Amendment) Act 1986. Consideration of the draft rules of court has been completed. They were laid before Parliament on 8 June and will come into effect on 1 August when sections 2 and 3 of the Act are implemented. This will give the courts and local authorities time to make the necessary preparations. It is expected that the charge and control regulations will be laid before Parliament in this Session.
