HC Deb 10 June 1988 vol 134 cc722-3W
Mr. Kennedy

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what is the average cost per kilowatt hour of electricity generation from(a) the North of Scotland Hydro-Electricity Board and (b) the South of Scotland Electricity Board.

Mr. Lang

[holding answer 28 March 1988]: The average cost of generation, including electricity derived from interchange and purchases, borne by both Scottish electricity boards under their joint generating agreement in 1986–87 was 1.97p per kilowatt hour. An analysis of the boards' costs is contained in their annual reports for 1986–87, copies of which are available in the Library of the House.
