Mr. Mallon

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what measures are being taken to ensure that private entrances and exits, leading on to and off the main Belfast to Dublin road, in the immediate vicinity of the existing customs station at Newry, are kept clear of parked vehicles.

Mr. Needham

[holding answer 7 June 1988]: Prohibition of waiting by vehicles in the vicinity of the existing customs station, Newry, introduced by the Department of the Environment (NI) in 1981 and 1982 remain in force. Police and traffic wardens make every effort to ensure that traffic regulations in operation in the area are enforced.
