HC Deb 09 June 1988 vol 134 c665W
Mr. Blunkett

To ask the Lord President of the Council on how many days in the current parliamentary Session the Deliverer of the Vote has failed to deliver the Vote to recipients outside the House on the day of publication; what the reasons for the late or postal deliveries are; and what steps are being taken to ensure same day delivery.

Mr. Wakeham

The Vote has not been delivered to Members' addresses outside the House on the day of publication on 16 occasions during this Session due to printing delays. In addition, of all the morning deliveries ordered by Members this Session, not all of which include the Vote, 3.3 per cent. have had to be posted due to sickness, transport breakdowns or staff resignations.

I am advised the HMSO has markedly improved the time of delivery to the House of documents for the morning delivery and that all possible steps are being taken by the Deliverer of the Vote and his staff to ensure regular delivery of the Vote to Members on the day of publication.
