§ Mr. LuceReturns from Departments show that there were 278 outward and 195 inward secondments in 1987, a total of 473. This is more than double the figure in 1979 and is 1 per cent. higher than in 1986. The figure for secondments to other bodies rose by 5 per cent.
I welcome this high level of interchange and will be reviewing ways of strengthening the links still further. A copy of the 1987 interchange report has been placed in both Libraries of Parliament.
