§ Mr. BattleTo ask the Secretary of State for Social Services (1) how many patients suffering from mental illness, discharged from hospital in the last two years, have an individual case worker assigned to them; and if he will make a statement;
(2) how many patients suffering from mental illness have been discharged from hospital in each health authority for the past two years.
§ Mrs. CurrieThe table provides the available information on discharges, by health authority, from National Health Service mental illness hospitals and units in England for the two latest available years. The figures on discharges exclude transfers to other National Health Service hospitals and the special hospitals, and do not relate to individual patients as a patient may be admitted and discharged more than once during the year. Statistics on the numbers of patients suffering from mental illness who have an individual case worker assigned to them after discharge from hospital are not centrally collected.
