HC Deb 09 June 1988 vol 134 cc638-9W
Mr. Amess

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many(a) prosecutions and (b) convictions were made for each of the last five years in (i) the United Kingdom, by region, and (ii) Basildon for litter-related offences; and how much was recovered in fines.

Mr. Douglas Hogg

The information available to me, which may be incomplete, is brought together in the following tables. Data is not collected centrally on moneys recovered in fines for individual offences.

Police Force Area 1982 1983 1984 1985 1986

2 Data is not collected centrally for Basildon alone but for the whole of the Billericay petty sessional division.
3 Figures are those recorded centrally and are approximate: detailed checking of individual cases would involve disproportionate cost.

Mr. Amess

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many offenders already convicted of litter-related offences were(a) re-prosecuted and (b) re-convicted at later dates for similar offences in the United Kingdom, by region, and in Basildon, in each of the last five years.

Mr. Douglas Hogg
