To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he has any plans to review the licensing scheme for fishing vessels; and if he will make a statement.

In April 1987, Fisheries Ministers announced their conclusions following a substantive review of the restrictive licensing scheme. We are continuing to keep the licensing arrangements under review, and will introduce further changes, if they appear necessary, in consultation with the fishing industry.
