§ 38. Mr. DayTo ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make a statement on the United Nations special session on disarmament in New York.
§ Mr. MellorThe third United Nations special session on disarmament began on 31 May and will continue until 25 June. It provides an opportunity for all countries to take part in full discussion of arms control and disarmament issues. My right hon. and learned Friend addressed the special session on 7 June. We shall be working for a consensus to build on the momentum created by recent agreements, and to encourage further progress in arms control.
I have arranged for a copy of a memorandum that sets out the approach of the British Government to the special session to be deposited in the Library of the House.
