To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services, pursuant to the answer to the hon. Member for Norfolk, North (Mr. Howell) of 17 May, Official Report, columns 402–6, if he will provide figures for net weekly spending power on the same basis and for the same groups with weekly earnings of £190, £200, £210, £220, £230, £240, £250, £260, £270, £280, £290, £300, £350 and £400.

The information requested is provided in the tables. The assumptions are as set out in my reply to my hon. Friend the Member for Norfolk, North (Mr. Howell) on 17 May at columns402–6. Typically, however, families in these income ranges are unlikely actually to be paying average local authority rents and rates. Income tax is on a post-budget basis.
