§ Mr. FrenchTo ask the Secretary of State for Social Services, pursuant to the reply given to the hon. and learned Member for Leicester, West (Mr. Janner) on 20 April,Official Report, column 463, if he will give the nature and extent of the drug misuse services for solvent abuse.
§ Mrs. CurrieThe Department has asked health authorities to give priority to the development of services for drug misusers and has provided extra resources to enable them to do so. These services provide counselling, advice and information and, where necessary, detoxification.
Information on the full extent to which local drug misuse services are able to help solvent misusers is not held 562W centrally. Recent research, based on reports from local drug projects, shows, however, that for about half of those seeking help, solvent misuse was, in varying degrees. a problem.
