HC Deb 07 June 1988 vol 134 cc503-4W
38. Mr. Crowther

To ask the Secretary of State for Employment whether he has any plans to extend beyond the pilot areas the practice of recalling for further restart interviews those who have not taken up any of the offers made at their earlier interview.

Mr. Lee

As announced in the White Paper, "Training for Employment", the restart programme will be further developed during 1988–89. An important aspect of this development will be the gradual introduction of follow-up interviews throughout the country. They will be carried out by both restart counselling staff and by claimant advisers, and will be offered to those who most need additional help. This will include those who decline all offers of help at their main restart interview.
