HC Deb 07 June 1988 vol 134 c518W
Mr. Strang

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what information he has on which countries export coal to Scotland, via Rotterdam, in the current year.

Mr. Lang

Such information is not held by my tight hon. and learned Friend the Secretary of State for Scotland: questions concerning Government policy on imports into the United Kingdom are for my right hon. Friend the Secretary of Slate for Energy. The latest information on coal imports is set out in the reply given to the hon. Member for Edinburgh, East (Mr. Strang) by my hon. Friend the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Energy on 4 March.

Mr. Strang

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what information he has as to how much coal, expressed(a) in tonnes and (b) in monetary value, had been imported by the South of Scotland Electricity Board so far in the current year.

Mr. Lang

I am advised by the South of Scotland Electricity Board that it has taken delivery of approximately 30,000 tonnes of imported coal in the current financial year to date. The monetary value of the imports is a confidential matter between the board and its suppliers.
