HC Deb 07 June 1988 vol 134 c433W
Mr. Fatchett

To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Science (1) if he will make it his policy to make public at the earliest possible stage the possible reopening as a city technology college of a school for which his permission for closure has been sought; and if he will make a statement;

(2) if he will make it his policy not to seek to establish a city technology college based on a school subject to closure proposals before him for determination; and if he will make a statement.

Mrs. Rumbold

Any plans to convert existing schools into CTCs require the publication of statutory proposals which will be decided on their merits. Should potential sponsors wish to approach local authorities to school governors with a view to seeking to establish city technology colleges, they are free to do so. It is for sponsors to make public at a time appropriate to them their plans to establish a CTC.
