To ask the Secretary of State for Defence how much longer he expects Canberra aircraft to remain in Royal Air Force service.

On current plans the Canberra is expected to remain in service into the next century.

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence how many Canberras are still in Royal Air Force service.

Four units of Canberras are currently in service with the Royal Air Force.

§ Mr. Rogers
To ask the Secretary of State for Defence whether he has any intention of selling Canberra planes presently in Royal Air Force service; and if he will make a statement.

§ Mr. Sainsbury
No Canberra aircraft presently in service with the Royal Air Force are being offered for sale. A few non-effective aircraft may, however, be disposed of later this year once spares recovery has been completed.
