HC Deb 29 July 1988 vol 138 cc774-5W
Mr. Allen

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services what is the difference in cash terms between Trent regional health authority's current percentage of resource allocation working party allocations and the full resource working party allocation.

Mrs. Currie

In 1988–89, Trent regional health authority's total revenue allocation (before additional funds were allocated for the review body pay awards) was £1,061 million. This included a revenue RAWP allocation of £1,010 million, which was 2.7 per cent, of £28 million below the region's current RAWP target share of the available resources.

Mr. Allen

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services when he expects the Trent regional health authority to receive 100 per cent, of its resource allocation working party allocation.

Mrs. Currie

The long term (10-year) resource assumptions issued to regions in 1983 were aimed at bringing all regions to around 100 per cent, of their RAWP targets by 1993–94. Considerable progress has already been made. Ministers will continue to give careful thought to the pace of change in deciding on Regions' annual allocation.

The Government will also consider, within the context of the wider review of the National Health Service, the recent report from the National Health Service Management Board on the review of the RAWP formula, which recommends a number of changes in the calculation of regional targets.
