To ask the Prime Minister (1) what is the typical salary of a Civil Service scientific officer after three years' service, and of a National Health Service scientist after the same service; and if she will make a statement on the implications of the disparity;

(2) what is the starting salary of (a) a Civil Service scientific officer and (b) a National Health Service graduate scientist; and if she will make a statement on the implications of the disparity between them.
