HC Deb 29 July 1988 vol 138 c803W
Mr. Tony Banks

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment if his Department was consulted by the London Docklands development corporation over the application by London City airport to allow demonstration landings and take-offs by BAe 146 aircraft; and if any of his officials were present at the tests on 24 July.

Mr. Trippier

The London Docklands development corporation informed the Department that a planning application had been received and that planning permission has been granted allowing the London City airport to be used on three days for demonstration flights by British Aerospace 146 aircraft. No officials from my Department were present at the demonstration on 24 July.

Mr. Tony Banks

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will make it his policy to order a full public inquiry to consider any application for the scheduled use of London City airport by BAe 146 aircraft; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Trippier

In the event of an application being made to the London Docklands development corporation my right hon. Friend will consider carefully whether it should be called in for public inquiry.
