§ Mr. GeorgeTo ask the Minister for the Civil Service how much has been spent by his Department in each of the past five years on the evaluation of Department programmes; and what proportion this constitutes of(a) the amount allocated for evaluation and (b) the Department's total budget,
§ Mr. Luce[holding answer 28 July 1988]: The Office of the Minister for the Civil Service's management accounting system provides for the continuous review of the Department's work in addition to an annual evaluation of all its programmes. The system is an integral part of the process of management in the Department and it is therefore not possible to identify separately the resources involved.
